A new project
Hi, I’ve started a new blog where I’m posting tips and articles about general Java programming, mostly with focus on simplicity and performance. Check it out at www.spartanjava.com.
It allows you to integrate into your application a granular, complete and manageable permission scheme. The goal of the framework is to provide a simple-to-use-yet-powerful security environment for multi-user applications.
Hi! I’ve been completely MIA for the last few months, but I’m back and working hard again on Kasai. We will release version 3 sometime during the next months.
Right now the current ToDo list for the new version includes:
* Streamline webapp code, using jQuery instead of straight forward javascript/DOM
* Add global permission management interface to webapp
* User blocking policies (concurrent connections, time definitions)
* Allow wildcards for object permission assignments (for example: /user/*)
* Complete and update quickstart guide
I’ll keep you posted on our progress.

After what seemed forever, Kasai v2 is here. Go get your copy now.
The most important changes for this new version are:
We are proud to announce the availability of our new mediawiki based manual and documentation site for Kasai. Please go to http://kasai.manentiasoftware.com/docs and feel free to leave your comments and additions. Note that you must register a username in order to edit existing pages and create new ones.
Hi again, alpha 2 is out as you probably guessed from the title. Apart from some minor bug fixes, we included:
As usual you can get the new version from the downloads section at the sourceforge project page.
We are also planning on migrating the Kasai Manual to an online Wiki based version, so stay tuned for news on this front.
Finally, after all this long time here is the first version of Kasai 2.0. It’s still alpha quality but all important features are already there, including an awesome AJAX based web administrative tool, along with MS SQL and PostgreSQL support.
Please report any bugs you find and feel free to submit suggestions and patches.
We’ve just checked into CVS the following changes:
The web admin interface still needs work, so until thats finished we wont release a beta version of 2.0. Hopefully more news will come soon.
Hi all, as you probably noticed we have completely refurbished our website. Thanks to our design genius Javier O. and the folks at WordPress, we now have a much nicer and feature rich site. Let us know what you think (now you can comment right here ;P).
ps: Kasai 2.0 is warm and in the oven, don’t wander too far.
